- A grenat metapelite -

Voir en LP ?

Microphotography in plane polarised light, of garnet (Gt) in a metapélite. The mineral contains inclusions of Qqiartz (Q); it is surrounded by the foliation materialised by biotites (biot) and muscovites (musc). The latter are colourless and can be distinguished from quartz by the presence of a sharp cleavage.

The garnet (Gt) is isotropic, black under crossed-polarised light. The quartz is white to black. The micas are brightly coloured.
