- Definition of the Metamorphism -

When rocks are moved to various depths from where they were originally, they recrystallize. Such displacement of the rocks is common in the Earth's crust and mantle. This recrystallisation, which occurs in the solid state, "metamorphoses" them into metamorphic rocks. This transformation is driven by changes in pressure, temperature and the nature of the fluids when the depth changes.
